Awesome!Review by Stephen
This was my first DIY guitar kit project. When I first opened the box, you could instantly see the quality was to a high standard.

Fret board needed some work doing to it, but with the help of videos out there to aid you through the build, it was straight forward enough. I can definitely say it's worth doing at least one!

I'll be buying again from KBG, thinking of the 335 hollow body kit next.

Thanks. (Posted on 2/8/2018)
Great ProjectReview by Glen
I've been learning guitar for a couple of years now. Up until now been playing a
Squier Vintage Modified 70s Strat. I decided I would like a LP as well and always liked the idea of building my own guitar from a kit. After hunting around I found kit built guitars and read a couple of reviews they all sounded positive, so I went for it.

Everything fitted together so well, I was worried about the neck after reading review of other kits, however this one fitted so snug and tight.

Well I have finished the guitar now after about 3 weeks, including setup etc. I did mess up and managed to sand through the veneer, so watch out for that!
I did upgrade the nut and put some Tonerider pickups in it while I was building it.

The tone from the guitar now it is built is what I have been listening/looking for, I am really happy with the outcome.

I really enjoyed working on the setup of the guitar, Truss rods always scared me, however after researching it is pretty eaddy, I had a bit of fret buzz and just added some relief into the neck and now all gone, I have a low action and it is a joy to play.

I know I will end up building some more of these kits. I am finding that I am picking up this guitar all the time, and there is something about having built in myself that makes me want to play it all the time!

I feel this kit is well worth the time and money to get something unique!

Mike has been very helpful during the whole process, very quick at responding to emails with helpful advice.

335 or SG next....

Pretty good first guitar kitReview by Jairo
The wood is very good, it has a nice veneer and as some others have already stated the bridge is not very good, but you can fix or replace it.
I really like the fingerboard colour when you use some lemon oil on it.
The body and neck fits ok. The tuners are ok too.
I asked KBG and they answered me fast that the nut is made of plastic.
Its worth replacing it because in my case it was very tall. I tried to fix it but you need deep knowledge, experience and good and expensive files that could cost more than the kit, so i decided to replace it and i had a hard time finding one because of its rare dimensions, but finally the Black Tusq XL PT-6642 is a direct replacement with very good quality.
I can't talk about the pick ups yet but the guitar sound very good without them too. As soon as i paint the guitar i will upload some photos, but its taking me some time to plan how to do it properly, its not that easy :D .

All in all i would buy it again because its very good quality for the money.

Thanks! (Posted on 1/19/2018)
Great KitReview by Stewart
Couldn’t be more impressed with this kit. Was a bit skeptical about the quality of the pickups and intended changing them once I got confident with the wiring but they sound fantastic so I’m keeping them.

As one reviewer said, the bridge is the weak point (it’s a bit rattly), but I have a Gibson SG and an Epiphone Dot and the bridges are all exactly the same width so I bought a new Gotoh bridge which fits perfectly. Might change the tuners for some Grovers but that’s not absolutely necessary as it stays in tune as well as all my other guitars.

Can’t stop playing the finished guitar, will definitely buy from Kit Built Guitars again.

completed kit...pros n consReview by Barry
To be successful with any kit you need to be realistic about your own skills and what to expect at this cost point.

To get a good quality finish you need to put in time to sand out the marks left by the finishing equipment used at the factory which can be difficult to spot before you start applying finishes but with diligence you can get a very respectable looking guitar. The neck fits the pocket well at the right angle.

The real weak point is the indifferent quality of some of the hardware..........the bridge is particularly poor but not readily upgraded as it is marginally narrower than standard Gibson size....you'll need to able to solder (or know someone who can) as its not a five minute job.............stick with it and you might be pleasantly surprised......... Photo will be added to gallery soon

Great QualityReview by David
I've built two of the LP model kits now, and have to say that the quality is excellent. Lovely figured maple veneer on both examples, no issues with shape, routing etc. Wiring may be a little fiddly for a beginner, but nothing that a quick look on Youtube can't help with.
I've replaced the pickups in my guitar with Gibson '57 classics (not that there were any problems with the stock pups), and even with that added expense, for less than a quarter of the price of a Gibson, I've got a great-looking, amazing sounding and unique instrument, AND I kept myself out of trouble for a few weeks in what was a really fulfilling project :)

Can't recommend these kits enough. (Posted on 9/14/2016)
Very impressedReview by james
Just recieved my lp kut guitar. First impressions are good. Body good shape nice figure on the veneer top. Routing clean no tear outs. Neck fitted snugly slight gap on high e side. But should be easily rectified. Hardware was ok. Tuners surprisingly good. Will be replacing hardware anyway. Delivery was prompt. Communucation with Mike was very good. As i say was impressed with the quality of the kit straight out of box. Will defo order again. (Posted on 3/18/2016)
les paul kitReview by Garry
Very impressed with this kit.... I did change the wiring as have a good background in audio and electronics. ... The finished guitar was better than I could have hoped for. ... It looks stunning and sounds brilliant.... I can not recommend these kits enough and am now looking at the telecaster project.... If I can persuade my wife that it is absolutely necessary :)
also wish I could post photos here to show off my hard work (Posted on 12/21/2015)
Les Paul Style kit guitarReview by Rick Spangle
My son and daughter bought me the kit for Xmas as a bit of a challenge.
I have finally wired up everything after assembling teh neck body and hardware and having a professional paint job done on the body, I must admit I am very happy with the outcome of the whole exercise. The guitar looks great This exercise has taught me about luthering and setting up guitars etc. I can now take this knoweldge and adjust/set up my other guitars to suit my style of play. I have bought a kit as a birthday present for someone else and will definitely buy another kit for myself and build one of the other styles.

Well worth the time effort and money. (Posted on 4/27/2013)
